inside of c-130. floor tracks for sliding cargo inside.

this is the c-130. it's quite a bit smaller. it takes stuff to the south pole. (dj got to ride one of these when he went to the south pole for two weeks-lucky ducky!)

this is the inside of the c-17. note all of the exposed wires above heads. the seats slide in and out. the back section of seats were removed to make room for the new tractor. the seats are AWESOME. more room here than in first class commercial. the side seats suck though. they don't tilt back. not a very comfortable 5 hour ride, if you're slow and end up with a side seat.

ice

so the c-17 you see is sitting on the ocean. our entire airstrip is on the ocean. the airstrip here is the one sitting right outside the city. (an easy 20 min. walk)

in december this strip moves more toward the permanent ice shelf. (1 1/2 hour walk/40 min. delta ride away.)

c-17 shot of fellow mcmurdo folk landing on the ice

this is a view of mcmurdo from the cross on observation hill. not a very pretty town-very industrial. every time you turn away from town though, the views are bucolic!

from november post to february post.....i was busy.

i'm going to just start posting photos. if there is something you want to know about them....ask me!
